Open Circle Arts

Sheila has worked part-time as the Co-Ordinator and Development worker for Open Circle Community Arts since 2016. Open Circle is a community-based arts organisation that provides women throughout Kilkenny with high quality arts learning that is facilitated by artists who are highly experienced in working in communities. It gives participants access to a range of media such as, drawing/painting, textiles, printmaking, 3D work and creative writing and much more. There is a strong sense of community and opportunity to explore creativity in a safe supportive environment. In 2018 the Open Circle programme was honoured to win a Special Award under the 'Creative Place' category in the Pride of Place awards. The judges cited "the key to this entry is that it makes the arts accessible to women of all ages engendering mutual encouragement and inspiration in those involved and a very palpable sense of community"
